Editor’s Statement

Being an Editor is all about building connections with the author, the publisher, and the reader. It’s about collaborating to take words and create a masterpiece. I am dedicated to protecting the author’s voice, while still providing the services needed as that fresh set of eyes for your project.

I have attention to detail, but I also know how to query through my experiences in copyediting training, combined with my professional experiences through 20 years of customer service and leadership. This unique blend of experiences layered will help me as I begin my editing journey.

My genre areas of study are technical documents and fiction publications. My collaborations with authors have included proofreading and alpha/beta reading projects, and I am expanding my services to include, copyediting, line editing, and substantive/developmental editing. I fully believe editing is only successful when you know the writing process. My coursework was selected to maximize my experiences with different genres of writing and editing.

Before even opening up the document, you can expect to have one-on-one time to go over your goals for the piece and to provide insight into areas that you would like special focus on. I also provide sample edits in my manuscript evaluations to communicate what you can expect from our working together. While editing, all suggestions are provided through Track Changes in Microsoft Word or Suggestions in Google Docs. You will also receive a style sheet communicating the details of the editing process.

I believe that communication is the foundation of every relationship, and I think that these steps will allow for transparency in what you can expect from a business relationship with me as your editor. My mom has told me that even as a kid I loved grabbing a red pen and searching for grammar mistakes in the newspaper. This drive is what propels me with my work, and with my background in management, I know I can provide you with the services you need in a prompt and organized manner.
