About Me

Editor, Story Advocate, and Dedicated Word Nerd
Hi, I’m Bonnie—a fiction-focused freelance editor, technical writer, and copy writer with a lifelong love of storytelling, a sharp eye for detail, and a deep respect for an author’s voice. It can be difficult to hand over the manuscript that you spent so much time, money, and tears developing. My job isn’t to rip apart your manuscript with a digital red pen. My job is to be that fresh set of eyes and collaborate with you to create the piece you dream of publishing.
A Dream Career, Years in the Making
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Rhetoric, and Technology with the University of Colorado Denver. Going back to school was a deliberate decision—one fueled by my desire to finally pursue the editing and writing career I’ve always envisioned, without limiting myself geographically. With the advancement in the publishing industry over the past ten years, I now have the capabilities to follow my dream, which brings us both to the page you are reading now.
From Management to Manuscripts
Before stepping into the publishing world, I built a 20-year career in customer service and leadership. I specialized in sales growth, team and leadership development, and attention to detail—skills which now shape how I collaborate with authors: with clear communication, solution-focused feedback, and genuine care for the work. I am dedicated to my work and take on every task with precision and thoughtfulness.
Heart in the Mountains, Home in Texas
I now live in Austin, Texas with my partner and our three highly opinionated pets: my Boston Terrier, Olivia; Aussie/Border Collie mix, Keira; and my cat, Harley Quinn.
Though I’ve moved back to Texas, Colorado still has my heart. Having spent time visiting family as a child and living there for several years during my adult life, I return to the mountains—and my favorite people—as often as I can. It’s my solace when I need to escape and connect with my inner muse.
Beyond the Red Pen
When I’m not editing, I’m likely reading a good book, diving into my own writing, attending concerts with my partner and sister-in-law (and living for my favorite bands in high school doing 20th Anniversary tours), enjoying live theatre and then enthusiastically belting the musical numbers in my solo concert in the car (whether I hit the note or not!), and giving my most valiant effort to avoid the Texas heat.
Why I Edit
Whether you’re polishing a final draft or shaping the first rough pass, I’m here to help you bring your fiction to life—with clarity, care, and just a touch of editorial magic. I have always preferred a book over a TV show, scandalizing my partner when we started dating because I had no TV in my apartment and my dining room was a library (the dining room he was ok with; I very quickly ended up with a TV after a few dates).
I love the editing I have done so far, and I’m thankful to work for a company that supports my degree goals by allowing me to edit corporate documents, policies, and procedures. Editing combines my passion for helping people with my love for reading—what more could I ask for?
Writing
Writing has always been a place where I feel calm, even with research papers in school. When writing for myself, I write fiction with goals to one day publish. In school, I graduated with Technical and Professional Writing and Proposal and Grant Writing certificates with my Bachelor’s Degree. For work – so far – I have gained professional and technical experience through correspondence, aiding in training programs, standard operating procedures, and other documents while working my District Training Manager position.
